ELISHA AND THE TWO SHE BEARS

This book of a little over 140 pages is basically a commentary of the story given in the Bible in II Kings 2:23 – 25. That is, 140 pages to explain 3 verses! And Jethro has plans to write a commentary on the whole Bible!

The story of Elisha and the Two She Bears is very enigmatic. On its surface it seems ridiculous that a great holy prophet of Israel should curse and kill 42 boys just for mocking him. All they said to him was: Go up baldy, go up baldy. Twice. Enough to really hurt a person. And yet the prophet turns around and curses them and two she bears come out of the woods and tear up 42 of the children! A bit extreme we would say.

But Jethro shows an entirely different way of looking at this story. So different that no one would think that there was so much hidden in this story. How does Jethro manage to decode this story? By using the codes of Gematria of the Hebrew and English languages.

The first aspect of the story that struck Jethro was the significance of the number 2. The story is in II Kings (that means the second book of Kings) chapter 2. In chapter 1 we have the story of the ascent of Elijah into heaven on a chariot of fire. Before he leaves he asks Elisha, his student, what his last wish is. Elisha asks for a double portion of the spirit of Elijah. Elijah tells him that if he sees his ascent to heaven then he will know his wish has been granted.

So we see that Elisha is very connected to the number 2. The boys shout out Go up baldy two times. Then two she bears come out of the woods. Jethro shows how the number 2 is important in this story.

As an example of a Gematria in this book we shall use the Placement Values for English. A = 1, B = 2… Z = 26

SHE BEAR = 19 + 8 + 5 + 2 + 5 + 1 + 18 = 58 (PV)

 TWO = 20 + 23 + 15 = 58 (PV)

So we see that a She Bear is intrinsically connected to the number two.

Using Hebrew Placement Values where א = 1, ב = 2…. ת = 22 then

קרח (Hebrew for Baldy) = 19 + 20 + 8 = 47 (PV)

BEAST = 2 + 5 + 1 + 19 + 20 = 47 (PV)

So when the children called him Baldy twice there were in fact creating their own two Beasts!

Jethro mysteriously links this story to an event in the USA many centuries later. Revealing that this story is a prophesy of a later event. In this event we have Theodore Roosevelt Junior (his father was Theodore Roosevelt Senior so there were two of them!) as president of America going on a hunting trip in which his team captures a bear yet he refuses to kill it. From this came a cartoon in the newspaper of him being too scared to kill the bear. The cartoon of the bear soon became the Teddy bear only that two people invented the teddy bear almost simultaneously. Another two in the story.  Now

TEDDY = 58 = TWO (PV)

Is that not strange!?

Jethro then goes on to reveal an astrological aspect to this story and links the two she-bears to the two bears in the sky – Uris Major and Uris Minor.

In the end Jethro shows that the children were not killed but rather divided into two parts, 42 boys run one way and 42 the other. The Hebrew for tearing up actually means to split into two. Hence, there were 84 boys to begin with as revealed in the Hebrew for boys or lads נערים (Ne’arim) = 14 + 16 + 20 + 10 + 24 = 84 (APV). Here Jethro uses the Alternative Placement Value for the final Mem ם of 24 as when it is placed at the end of the Alpha Bet.

This book shows how this story can be understood on different levels but all pointing to the one basic teaching of the spiritual elevation of the self. For more you will need to read this amazing book.
